About the Author

Sheryl Brennan is a Senior Lecturer within the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SNM) at the University of Tasmania.

Sheryl completed a PhD in 2002 which investigated the historical experience of women living in isolated rural areas. Her other research interests include the history of nursing and health and womens’ and child health. Recently, she completed a small study of the experience of people who contracted poliiomyelitis as children in the 1950s in Tasmania.

This book was completed in December 2006 and currently Sheryl is working on a history of child health nursing.
